Steering Column I.D.
Help me I.D. the tilt column in my 66. Need to replace the turn signal and hazzard light mechanisms and need to know what column to buy parts for. Also looking for a different steering wheel and curious what will fit.

Re: Steering Column I.D.
Looks like a 77-87 floorshift column with the ignition cut out and smoothed over.
I bet the steering lock doesn't work?

Re: Steering Column I.D.
no steering lock. doesn't look like any mods were made to it though but I'll give it a better look.

Re: Steering Column I.D.
Yeah the ignition has been removed. 72 was the last year for the ignition on the dash. Looks like they did a nice job on it.

Re: Steering Column I.D.
Thanks,
the turn signals don't turn off after the turn and the hazzard button no workie. Will have to visit napa to see if they've got the parts to repair. Thanks for the help.

Re: Steering Column I.D.
LDO if not mistaken and somebody correct me if I`m wrong, the e-flasher will not work unless the lighting harness is wired the way the same as the vehicle that the column came from, the rest of the harness in your truck is wired as the factory had it in `65....I know because I had beat myself up for a week trying to make mine work from an `86....

Re: Steering Column I.D.
Rich,
thanks for the advice. I'll check into the wiring. I need to replace the actual button first as that's what is sort of messed up. I'm hoping to find the parts at napa or another parts chain store.

Re: Steering Column I.D.
Pretty sure that column is 84-87. It has the part sticking out of the column where the turn signal lever is, which means that column originally had the wipers and dimmer switch on it. '83 and older were just round there, with the same turn signal lever you have. Someone swapped an older turn signal lever in it, and shaved the ignition. It looks great, though. Whoever did it did a really nice job.
