Where to put radio speakers in my 1952 GMC
I'm installing a reproduction radio in the dash and intend on using the new in dash dual cone front speaker. I would also like to add some speakers in the rear but I do not know where? What about adding an amp. The last time I installed a custom sound system was in the 70's I think. I still listen to the same rock and roll now as then. The only difference is now it comes from an ipod or XM.

Re: Where to put radio speakers in my 1952 GMC
We manufacture a rear speaker unit for the 47 to 54. Any questions about them please feel free to ask. If you would like to add an amp, I would personally recommend looking into a 2 channel amp if you intend on adding 6X9's in the rear and a dual 4" speaker set up in the dash. The reason I say 2 channel, is because the 6X9's will have a MUCH higher RMS rating then the dual 4" in the dash will. Generally the dual 4" speaker set ups have a RMS rating of 20-30 watts. Where as the 6X9's will have a RMS power rating generally from 70-100 watts, and a peak power rating of 180+ watts. You could run the 6X9's amplified and the dual 4" in the dash of the head unit. With or without an amp installed, the Kicker 6X9's have amazing sound quality and it will sound like a completely different truck inside with a set of our Speaker enclosures installed!
For an amplifier I personally would recommend looking into a Kicker. Kicker makes a fantastic amp, and they perform wonderfully. Here's a link to our 47-54 Speaker Enclosures http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=489605 |

Re: Where to put radio speakers in my 1952 GMC
look at my sub/amp enclosure in my interior build on fiberglassforums.com
mine is in a 58 but the idea would easily convert to any truck 2 side speakers, an amp and a sub would fit fine in back of your seat
