Simple dually questions...
I'm just about to begin my K20 to K30 dually swap and have a few quick questions:
1. I need wheels for my Dana 70 rear. Is there an easy way to identify Chevy factory dually rims in a junk yard? I don't want to end up with wheels that won't work. 2. Did factory duallys have the red clearance lights in the tailgate or are the ones I've seen added sometime afterwards? 3. Where did the factory put the spare for dually trucks? Was it under the bed like the rest of the trucks or just thrown in the bed? Thanks in advance! Posted via Mobile Device |

Quote:
I don't have wheel codes handy. The 80's one piece 16"wheels for radials, (my duallies before 1981 I ordered with 16 tires and they were 2 piece tube type wheels). I never wanted the 16.5 wheel/tires. The cab lights, fender, and rear markers were standard factory. I always ordered the optional " bedside tire holder" on my trucks. When hauling I located the tire elsewhere including on the modified Jackman Guard on the front. I have seen them mounted underside also. |

Re: Simple dually questions...
Agree that clearance lights on the cab and on the tailgate are factory (required for vehicles greater than 80" wide).
Spares typically go underneath, but could go in the bed just like any other fleetside. Dooley - that's a great pic of the spare tire carrier. I'll have to save that for other usages.... K

Re: Simple dually questions...
Thanks for the info guys. One more question though... There is an ad on craigslist for dually wheels and he states that they are not "coined". What does this mean and do I need "coined" wheels or non-coined?
