what do you think of this engine/tranny for sale...
you may remember my post last week about an engine and trans for sale...
well I went and looked at it today.. its a 396. on the stamping pad I got the following information: T08I6ET & 7B118499 the intake manifold is a GM aluminum, winters foundry, # 3933163 heads are 3904390 "pass" which decode as oval port and the intake is rect. port.. I was under the impression that that is a no-no. as for the engine block, it was cast with "3902403 P" which I cant find a reference to in any of my decoding sources.. (books and online) ... anyone help out? and the transmission is a muncie M22.... they wanna get rid of it for a grand. he swore the heads were rectangular port. but they are not Im going to offer 900$ for the whole package.. what do y'all think. I know that the trans is worth a pretty penny by itself. Condition is supposed to be real good of the tranny too mike |

why do you say that? by the way its from a 67 camaro..
I have heard of them going for much much more in other areas of the country.. I have seen just the tranny go for a grand, locally... mike btw the engine would really be just for parts or for a temporary engine... long term would either be sell it (or part it out) or rebuild |

Mike,
Intake manifold...got this straight from my BB numbers book: intake manifold, 427 aluminum high rise, divided plenum, Holley, (3947083,3947084) I can't find any info in my books for the heads or block...but I will keep looking and post back. I say it is worth it, I would even go as far as to offer $800...you have nothing to lose. ...Jeff |

Is it running?
Is it a running motor? Other wise you got a start for a rebuilder if thats what you want. As for the M22, if it s the real deal ROCKCRUSHER, and not just a M22 case with a bunch of Muncie parts in it, and is in good shape it worth some long green. Will he open the side cover? Which input shaft does it have? Check the numbers on it, and date codes.
