Sad loss
Well it's been a long time since I've been on here and there's a reason for that
I just replaced the trans to get rebuilt, then put a new power steering pump and new wheel bearings and breaks then as I was leaving my house my dam timing chain jumped on me, I was about to go camping in the next 4 hours so I pushed it back to my driveway and found a cheap jeep for 600 bucks so the Chevys stayed parked, I'm gunna miss this site and all the people on it but the users of the jeep forums seem nice with open arms so I'll be on another forums site but I will never forget what I've learned here or forget anything from this site, you all helped me so much with everything I've done with my truck but after dropping almost 4 grand into a truck I can't drive in the winter just wasn't worth the fit any more. If I owned a bigger garage and had a better job I would have kept the chev and my new rig as a winter truck but that's not the case. BUT I'll stop dragging this one and just say thank you too all Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Sad loss
Nothing wrong with Jeeps, had several of them and looking for another actually. The last one I did an LT1/4L60E swap and had an absolute ball with it. Jeep people are fun to hang with too, local club here is a blast with off road runs every month, bunch of nice people.
You'll enjoy it |

Re: Sad loss
I currently have a 1988 Grand Wagoneer...I love Jeeps. What kind did you get? And like stated above, you dont have to own a Chevy/GMC to be part of the family.

Re: Sad loss
Well I'll stay in touch on the site but my pics will change, I scored a 88 Cherokee xj limited with a i6 with only 160 k fully loaded leather and power everything with no rust or no problems for only 600 bucks, the last owner got it for a winter truck and got tired of it by summer and wanted a ranger again so he sold it for cheap. I gotta say I love having a 4x4 since I live so close to so many trails, here's a few pics the day I got it

Re: Sad loss
Swap that timing chain on the Chevy...you're going to need it to tow the Jeep!
J/K, stay around and be a source of Jeep info. |

Re: Sad loss
Oh,,,that kind of jeep....
The only jeeps we've had are the CJ's,,,,with the removable tops. We did have one later model Jeep,,,,an 05 Rubicon,,,,that thing was an awesome trail rig in stock form with front/rear lockers, 4.10 gears and a 4:1 transfer case,,,there wasn't anywhere I couldn't take that thing. |

Re: Sad loss
Nothing wrong with those old I6 jeeps. Way back in another life when I lived in Fla. I owned two wranglers with 6's in them. I beat those those things up runnin sand dunes and trails on the intercoastal waterway getting to fishing holes. Never left me stranded.

Re: Sad loss
That was my problem with Jeeps, it's hard to have just one. I have owned 5 Jeeps over the years, and my only minor complaint has to be their tow ratings.
Even the mighty Grand Wagoneer with 360V8 is only rated to tow a maximum of 5000#.

Re: Sad loss
I spend a lot of time on jeepform.com.
AMC 360, NP435 on 35s, building a set of Toyota axles for it right now. Built right Jeeps don't break like people claim, but anything that is hay wired together will come apart and in my opinion CJ are very fragile in their stock form. |
