Break Drum Delima
I have a 66' GMC, and the other day I noticed the brakes weren't doing so well. So I bought new brake shoes 11x2". I pulled the drum off and it had nasty grooves in it. Went to o'reilly's and asked for new drums so I can just replaced the rear end brakes as a whole. Came home and the lug pattern on the new drum was to big, so I went back and compared hub with what they had in stock. As I compared my hub with the new ones I noticed the area where the bolts where was higher that the new ones but not high enough for the others. I have a 6 lug rear end. Does anyone know where I can get new hubs that fit?

Re: Break Drum Delima
Well that its a no go. I had my rear checked out and it turns out its a rare-ish kind of rear end. It was only used in this particular GMC truck and only for three years so replacements are non-existent. The drum number is 2007 with a leaf spring suspension, unlike the 2005's which are the remakes that you can get almost anywhere. Time to fish myself a rear end.

Re: Break Drum Delima
I ran into the same delimna a couple years ago- the front drums were the same as all the 1/2T 2wd, but the rears were maybe 1/2" thicker drum. Endded up having to machine mine, altho I am sure they were thinner than the mfg recommends.

Re: Break Drum Delima
Yeh, my brake drums are beyond the recommendation. So it became illegal to have them turned down. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Break Drum Delima
you neede to get 72 blazer 4 wheel drive drums. had the same problem with mine. everybody wants to sell you chevy drums and they are not the same. we have danna 44 rear ends. the blazer drums are wider and work good--50$ at autozone each
