np 208 transfer case leak ?

i have a 1970 chevy 4x4 short bed. i have a 700 r4 bolted to a sb 350 and a np 208 t/c. with a 4 inch lift. just had t/c rebuilt since it was leaking. i still have the same leak . it leaks where the tailshaft housing meets the case. is this a weak spot ? to much angle or pressure from rear drive shaft ? your help is greatly appreciated

Re: np 208 transfer case leak ?

Does it look like it is leaking from a bolt hole, or where the two cases meet up? IIRC the 208 has a lot of bolt holes that go in to the case and if you don't put rtv/sillicone on the bolts, you will have leaks.

it is where the two meet up . the bolt holes does not leak . it leaked in the same area before and gets worse as u drive it to the point its bad. so i had it totally rebuilt . with in 15 miles of putting it back in. i have the same leak again its near the bottom. its not bad yet but leaking

Re: np 208 transfer case leak ?

I wonder if it might be cracked there. Can you post a pic of the leak? Probably asking the obvious, but is the surrounding area clean enough to verify the leak is there and not a drip/run from someplace else? I figure it is because of the fresh rebuild, but you know how sometimes the most obvious is the hardest to see when you are frustrated. The 85 burb my girlfriend drives has a 4" lift and it doesn't leak from there.
