Was it in the Dallas auction? Watched some of it, but not all....was it a stock blazer?

Ya, it was either in part 3 or part 4 of the Dallas auction. I don't remember if it was bone stock or completely restored to original, but it looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Very original looking red/orange with white top.

Would have looked better, (and been more correct) if they had painted the firewall and bottom hood body color like it should be.

Still grabbing decent money though so it must have had some eye appeal. These things keep creeping up in price.

Those are just later model truck ralleys. They were factory on an old 84 blazer I used to have. Not sure exactly what year they first came out though but I'd guess very late 70's or early 80's.

Not quite the right look for my taste on a 72 or older truck, but they look pretty good on just about any square body.

Squarebody ralley wheels. Very popular on 67-72 trucks.

From what I have found ralley wheels started on 1975 trucks.

What would be a proper wheel on a 72 Blazer? I've seen some 'steelys' on this forum, but it seems the Ralleys are more common for my year. I just know I want to replace the big chrome wheels onmy blazer with something more authentic, and maybe paired with 33" tires. On my Blazer I do think the white steelys might look sharp with my paint scheme.

They had white painted steelies with either poverty caps or full face hub caps if you want original. I must say the white painted steel wheels look really good on the 69-72's no matter what the color of the truck is.

If you want a little retro or something that fits the era, I've seen aluminum slots that look fine or several others that look good. I just run a simple aluminum wheel on my 72 but it's time for a change. I had a set of factory 15" steelies, but decided I wanted an 8" version instead, so I sold them. Couldn't find a satisfactory set of poverty caps anyway so I quit looking.

Don't get me wrong though, I like those later model truck ralleys, but the look on a 72 or older truck just hasn't grown one me. I look at the wheel and then look up and expect to see a square Not to mention those things are HEAVY. I ran them on a 77 I used to have and also on an 84. I think alot of people turn to them because they are cheap to buy and easy to find.

Are you talking about the black ones? Those are 5 lug an 16",,,not sure what they would fit but wouldn't be stock for a 69-72 blazer.

You can find the stock type wheels used fairly easy in a 15x6 size. They varied though as I've had some that were 15x5.5, some are made for drum brakes, some are disc, with different codes stamped. What I've found is finding a complete set that are all the same seems to be elusive

But they are out there, I see them occasionally for $100-$150 for a complete set of 4.

15x6 are very hard to find. If you want to fit 33" tires or bigger you can use the 15x8" rims that come on the military Blazers of the 80's and still fit the original dog dish hub caps that came on the 72s. Another option is to buy the 15x6" and send the to stockton wheel. They are open again and can widen them to a 15x8" but its not cheap.

Didnt know stocton was back, thanks for the info., now i can get my 15X10s on the back

I like the 15 x8 myself. They rannge in price from anywhere from 60 to 100 each usually. But then there is shipping! That can be 20-40 bucks a rim depending where they are coming from and going to.

That's the direction I eventually decided on, but haven't looked real hard for a set.

Ok, the '8' and '6' refer to the wheel width, correct? And 15' is the diameter? I think I like the 33" tires..would these work on the 6", or would you need 8"?

Those are 8" wheels front and back on Brendals truck.

I personally wouldn't run 33's on a 6 inch rim, and even if you wanted to try it I'd stick with the 10.5's. Still going to pull the sidewalls in so far that any amount of tire pressure is going to cause high center tread wear issues.

I run 33x10.5's on mine, but I have them currently on 8" aluminum wheels, and that's ultimately why I decided I didn't want to use the 6" steel wheels and ended up just selling them. BFG doesn't make a 33" tire that's any skinnier than the 10.5's I already have.

They are 15x8 all the way around on 33x12.50x15 tires. I was able to get 2 from a board member and scored 2 NOS ones at a swap meet. Caps I got on fleebay.

Good score BBrendal. Your Blazer has that classic look but with 33" it still looks beefy.
