Almost back together

3 pistons, (how the hell does 2 screws destroy 3 pistons???) 4 valves, $400 in head welding / guides / milling repair, touch hone block, rings / bearings / gaskets.. normal freshing stuff.. I'm at $2900 not counting time and gas to run things 75 miles to and from the machine shop.

Lesson learned: make shure those damn squirter screws have a touch of locktite on them, and check them FREQUENTLY anyways!!!

This motor IS posessed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Almost back together

Glad to hear it is getting some love, but man, those are some expensive screws. You'll be back at it in no time.

I would be very interested in a chassis dyno number from it.

Re: Almost back together

She is making noise. Have a ADRA race friday night Truck is ready!!!
If Rich doesn't tech I'll go off the stop again and see if the machnist 'trick' valve job helps or hurts LO. Has just a touch more compression (from milling the heads now 13.7 instead of 13.5). Because I'm not spinning it up and the convertor is a bit tight,, I put 1.5 more degrees advance in the cam this time.

Now just have to make 3 races and it will be Dune season again.

Re: Almost back together

Welp, 10.786 @ 121.5 in 3400' air. Picked up a litle MPH and the 60' is now as good as my Nova was when it was a 10.5 package. 1.43 sixty is rather surprising to me. This thing is not that well set up. Unfortunately I dialed 10.79 on that 10.78 pass so it was a short night. But the ol girl is back doing her job. Now it's time to start getting the sand rail ready for November
