Frantz Filter
For the older gentlemen, I though you might get a kick out of what I found in my dads garage:
For those of you who don't know, these filter used a roll of toilet paper instead of a regular filter. Enjoy guys. |

Re: Frantz Filter
I remember the good ol' days when I lived in the Projects. We had these oily toilet paper rolls all around the trash can areas (as with most trash, people couldn’t seem to get it into the cans).

Re: Frantz Filter
I’m old and remember those well, although that’s the first one I’ve ever seen with fins. My next door neighbor swore by those, and his oil always looked new. They were very controversial, detractors claiming the toilet paper could break down into fine silt potentially causing excessive bearing wear, but I never met a Frantz filter owner who ever had that problem.
And many old guys that used the Frantz filter also ran a Marvel Inverse Oiler which lubricated the upper engine with Marvel Mystery Oil. Although I haven’t seen a Frantz filter since the 1960’s, they are still sold new. http://www.frantzoil.com/home.html
