NP 208 transfer question

I bought 2 more blazers this winter. Both were automatic. My blazer is manual. I went to swap transfer cases and found out that in input shafts are different sizes and could not use the transfer case out of the automatic truck in my manual. Is it possible to take apart and switch the input on the transfer case? They are both NP208's but with different size inputs. Why the hell did they make 2??

I'd be willing to put money on YES you can swap inputs..

why did they make two? Dunno.

But I did the exact same thing you're talking about with NP205 transfer case... I had a good on from a manual truck, and a broken one from a th350 truck, but the input shaft & gear was still good .. tore them both down and swapped what I needed. works like a charm and was well worth the effort..

I say go for it if you have the skill.. it aint hard.. its a good time to throw a gasket/seal kit in the case and clean all the crud out and change the oil too..

good luck-
