Never seize on spark plugs
Anyone else do this. I am really not an advocate of it, seams it would restrict the grounding properties of the spark plug.
This 87 was not running as smooth as I would prefer so I checked the plugs. Has AUTOLITE PLATINUMS in it, not real trusting of those eather, however, seams there was only one that did not have the never sieze on it and it was golden brown. The others, all of the others only had a small brown spot and the rest of the electrode was white. I cleaned the never sieze off of the plugs but didn't have any cleaner to clean the plug holes. I will when I replace the plugs but FOOTBALL is on today so it will have to wait. Does anyone else use never sieze on the spark plugs ? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
I do, just a little dab on the threads is all you need though.

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
Only use anti-seize for plugs in aluminum heads. All others a drop of oil on the threads helps them screw on.

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
Platinum plugs are a real bitc* to lite with our ignitions. They are best For people who don't change their plugs ever since they last a long Time. Just get some copper core plugs and be happy all your voltage is being used

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
I always use a bit of antisieze on the threads of plugs. Thats the key, a bit, and only on the threads.

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
I use copper anti-seize on the threads.

I use it on all spark plugs, especially aluminum heads.

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
Its completely not neccessary to use anti sieze on spark plugs. The factory doesnt on any spark plug regardless of the material of the cylinder head. The antisieze will foul a spark plug. Its way more important to use the proper spark plug for the application.

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
Permatex Neverseeze is electrically conductive like Noalox. I use it on lightly used gasoline engine spark plugs like my weed trimmer, mower, and tiller engines... Becoming a bigger fan of compact low HP Yanmar 1 & 2 cylinder diesels for the mower and tiller because of the recent increases of ethanol in gasoline.
I also use it on my glow plug and injector threads. The key is moderation. Getting it on the insulator internally or externally will raise hell with the spark.

If it's been years since they've been removed,,,,,good luck. Using them on a steel head also isn't a bad idea. If you are fouling plugs,,,you're putting too much on. Anti seeze is only meant for the threads, not the electrode. |

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
I use it on the threads only. NOT on the Tapered Seat. It will get all the ground it needs thru the tapered seat.

Re: Never seize on spark plugs
yes use it, you only need a little, and no matter how much you used it wouldnt keep it from grounding.
