What's the Difference???

Just trying to increase my knowledge here...

So, who can explain to me the difference between MacPherson Strut suspension and "coil over shock" suspension. I understand that a "strut" is typically a load bearing (rigid) member. Is the lower portion of a MacPherson (the part below the coil spring) considered to be the strut???
