New Guy Saying hi!
Hi everyone. I have a 1970 C/10 LWB with a 350 (i think) engine and a 4spd (granny low) trans. picked it up for $400 from a guy who says he couldn't get it running - took it home and with in 10 mins realized he put the fuel filter in backwards and it fired right up! i felt kinda bad for the guy... anyway, i probably wont start restoring this guy anytime soon, but looking at this forum sure has given me plenty of ideas! as for now i have to finish up school and get a job before having my fun. the truck has it problems (rusted out running boards and cab corners and banged up bed and the list goes on) but i look forward to one day having a sweet cruiser!
Thanks! Bobby |

Re: New Guy Saying hi!
Welcome from the great state of Michigan. You have a good start, but believe me after you start shelling out the bucks for the restoration you'll soon get over your feel sorry feelings. LOL.
You should go to the userCP tab above and edit a signature, putting in the details of your truck and when you post a question we'll know what we're dealing with.

Re: New Guy Saying hi!
in the SHORT TERM i would like to keep it running and registered. This has meant buying a new intake, carb, fuel pump, and some other minor stuff. also getting this thing to pass emissions is a pain. Utah allows 1200 hydrocarbons (HC) for my truck and i get there after about an hour of tweaking at my buddies shop. i am assuming my engine is going to need a good rebuild to fix it properly.
my LONG TERM plans are to strip it down to the frame and build it back up. I am considering a 3.5/6 drop or, if i feel i can manage it financially, airbags would be pretty great. of course disk brakes in front and power steering. I am having a hard time deciding on whether i want a new 5.7 or to rebuild and keep my 350 or convert to a 383 stroker - so many possibilities... luckily no one has hacked into the dash to i can keep that all original with a restored cluster. All in all in the long term i am looking at a full restoration with modern updates. What have you done with your engine? stayed with the rebuilt original or gone with something new? I am going to have my truck be a cruiser.

Re: New Guy Saying hi!
The guy i bought the Chevy from had that gmc as a parts truck, and he gave it to me. It didn't have that many parts though, the only thing I kept from it was the power steering box. Everything else was either rusted or missing so I gave it away ( for $100). It was a Sierra 1500 3/4 ton I think, but it definitely wasn't something I needed or had the room for.
I've been looking at Porterbuilt suspensions, has anyone tried out their stuff? Posted via Mobile Device

Welcome,it always baffles me when you can get a truck in the USA for pennies on the dollar for what it would fetch in Canada. I think I was born in the wrong country lol.
