Bye Bye 'Ol Blue

Sad day at the jocko house, I'll miss her.
But the new owner is a nice guy and I think he'll take good care of her.

However, the new avatar will give you an idear of the next contestant up for bid on The Price is Right. Should be here in a few weeks, I think I'll have my work cut out for me...

Glad to hear she's going to a good home. It's for the greater good then because you get to rescue another one!

Condolences and congrats, Jocko

Beautiful truck, loved the overall look and those mint hubcaps. Hopefully the new owner will become a forum member. Good luck with your new project.

Re: Bye Bye 'Ol Blue

it did, was a very nice truck - one I could've sworn I'd keep forever. Like every other truck I've ever owned I guess. And the next one. But, no, I'm really gonna keep it, I am I am I am.

Re: Bye Bye 'Ol Blue

One of my favorite trucks. Hopefully the new owner will join the forum. Good luck on your next project. I"ll be lucky to get my truck finished, let alone look forward to another one. And yes, the build is the best part, maybe that is why it's taking me so long. I just don't want to see it end. That's what I'm telliing myself anyway.

Re: Bye Bye 'Ol Blue

Jocko,
I have went back and forth about colors on my truck. After seeing yours I knew it had to stay blue but I am changing the truck to a two-tone to match yours. I sent you a PM with my e-mail address and would like to get a couple of your pics so I can keep them for my planning and inspiration. Good work on this truck!

Re: Bye Bye 'Ol Blue

thanks all, appreciate the kind words. Captain, I know, I never thought I'd sell it either, but the good news is that I still have your bracket!! It will eventually be put to good use.

Larry, got your pm, just sent you a few emails with pics. Nice looking truck you have there!

Re: Bye Bye 'Ol Blue

I don't have many (pics), but it's a major PROJECT... and you're gonna kill me guys, not sure it was obvious in the avatar, but it's a 71(!). Here's all I have right now - trust me, the driver's side is not as nice as the passenger side. It's a 71 cheyenne super custom camper 20. Yes, yes, I know the inside of the driver's door is blue

Here ya go sicklajoie - i've come over to the dark side! looking forward to its arrival.

Re: Bye Bye 'Ol Blue

the bumper is a factory step bumper, but the original owner added a fold-down step to get into his camper. That's why the gate is in such great condition, it spent most of its life tucked away in a garage aparently. It's a 350/TH400 truck, 4.10 stock rear, factory a/c, regular long bed. One of the things I really like about it is that it has the wheelwell fill aux tanks, so no holes in the bed for them. They don't work of course, but why sweat the small stuff...

It took a bit for this to sink in to me that it was a cheyenne super. You'll note it only has Custom Camper nameplates but the interior is clearly a super. SPID calls out both - but in 71 only, when the camper nameplate was ordered, it displaced the cheyenne and super emblems because the door Custom Camper nameplate didn't come out til 72. Thought it was kind of interesting - kind of a stealth luxury truck, if you will. But it is a real super custom camper and I've been looking for one for awhile.

Bought a door from ledzepp (driver's side is non-original 72 and was white outside and blue inside for some reason). Working on finding an original med olive fender also (front left is in primer). Needs some work, but overall a pretty nice truck. I hope... Like I said, it's not here yet. Should be a fun project.

Rich - don't be confused, apparently he was just in it to flip it. I should bid $30K then refuse to pay, just like he did. Oh well... He finally paid me, so I guess he can do whatever he wants.

Btw, if anyone's interested in it - I'd be willing to bet the reserve is north of $15200. That's what he won the bid with when I sold it.

And I gave the guy a bunch of spare parts..... Lesson learned.
