Re: looking for truck tires
I went with STA Super transport tires for my '66 3/4 ton GMC. They are bias ply tires and very much look like the original Firestone tires that came with our trucks. They come in both a ribbed highway tread as well as a more agressive on/off road tread. I've had them for about a year and they seem to ride quite nice. Narrow tires sure make for easy handling on trucks without power steering.
Here's a link for some pictures, sizing, and pricing. https://www.universaltire.com/truck-...ary/truck.html |

Try http://www.tires-easy.com/. I got 7.50-16 radials from them. They seem to have a pretty big selection.

i guess the best way is to hit e-bay or swap meets cause it doesn't seem to be out there new and reasonably priced. do appreciate it, though. and i am still open to suggestions if anybody has a lead on new, nice looking, original appearing, bias ply, blackwall, tall light truck tires for say... a hundred and a half. theres got to be more folks looking than just me. |

there was a 7.50 x 16. 7.60 x 15 and 7.50 x 16 were common tire sizes back then. computer searches only work with the right nbrs ron |

Re: looking for truck tires
Have you tried the Farmers Coop in Fayettville for bias ply tires?

Re: looking for truck tires
The beefiest period truck tire for 1/2's with 15" wheels is the 7.00-15LT, and can still can be ordered at most big truck tire dealers. Specialty Tires of America (STA) site lists the most popular bias truck tires available http://www.stausaonline.com/light-tr...transport.html

Re: looking for truck tires
Looks great, thanks for posting a photo of what a 66 3/4 ton GMC looks like with factory 17.5" 1 piece wheels, and period bias ply tires(a rareity on this site). Your truck is truely a time piece, most 3/4 tons out there do not have wheels and hubcaps that match the year of the truck (excluding yelmer's custom campers of course).

Re: looking for truck tires
I got hooked up with T&W tire company thru work lately.... they have locations all over and saved me $1500.00 per tire on some big loader tires
