Does anybody know what trucks had an 80-up style tach?
I'm looking for one for my 86 K-10 project. I have a lot of extra tach clusters and parts I don't need but no tach of that style....what years did the big series trucks (C60, etc.) have them?

You might look at the GM sport salvage tach also. The big trucks usually only register to 5K, but those register up to 7K. http://gmsportssalvage.com/?q=node/1316

LMC just started offering some reproduction tachs. Look decent but who knows....

Lol....well, I went through one of the local u pull it yards and scored 3 more tach clusters and one of them was the one I was looking for....out of an 84 1-ton dually Silverado and is still sporting its 454 and 4 speed manual! Black on black too! Wish they would sell em whole out of the yard....it'd be a cool one to build.

Ok....so while I was taking apart and cleaning my collection of tach clusters, I noticed the one I pulled from the 84 dually has a black and white needle on the tach- shouldn't it be orange too?

Nice find on the tach. Really wish I had scored a pickup tach cluster. I'm happy with my big truck tach.
The needle should be orange. |

Hmmm...I'll have to post a pic of it...I imagine I could swap it for a Speedo needle....weird though. I had a C60 tach cluster once but it was a diesel truck so it had a 4K limit with a 3500-4000 redline.

Wow. The search for factory tach's just became unnecessary. Options have really opened up in the last year. LMC reproductions, the tach wiring harness, factory font 7000 rpm models from tachman.com and now gmsportssalvage 7000 rpm tach with peripheral gauges w/fuel gauge and wiring to make it all work with your existing cluster.

Then better sell yours before they are worthless! j/k OEM parts will always be worth $$$

Re: Does anybody know what trucks had an 80-up style tach?
Lol....yeah I have an extensive inventory of gbody stuff so I'm too aware of OEM parts being desirable...I was having fun dis-mantling all the clusters and assembling choice pieces to make them correct....I just finished a suburban project and now I'm doing a shortbox 4x4 project...I just like keeping nice parts on hand for projects I pick up. I'm not impressed with repro gbody stuff at all and I have yet to really see what the quality of parts like LMC are like...I still have a lot of GM stuff to exhaust first.
