Anybody running Innov. Racing headers on their 5.3?
Seen these headers listed as fitting 67-72 C10 with a 5.3....they are $189 plus s/h. Not bad, but are they worth a damn?
http://www.racinginnovationandsupply...26-1&search=GO I was going to try getting a set of TBSS manifolds until I ran across these. Anyone have any experience with them? |

Re: Anybody running Innov. Racing headers on their 5.3?
I would say take your question to another the more 99+ thread or Engine and Drive Train (LS swap forum might have in site). They look to be a nice set of headers. I am sure they are a made by a name brand company and these guys are just a vendor. I say go for it, they have a good price and look to be quality. If they don't look to be worth it when you get them, send them back. If I had a 5.3, I would be running these to save a few dollars.

Re: Anybody running Innov. Racing headers on their 5.3?
The price is good, but if you're going for performance, I'd skip the shorties and just some some long tubes. If you already have some manifolds, just use them, since the performance isn't much different than shorty headers. I used some stainless longtubes on the 5.3 that's in my '05 GMC and got a noticeable boost in power. I posted a thread about it in the'99-up section. I've used shorties before on another truck and the only thing that changed was the sound (just a little more raspy).

Re: Anybody running Innov. Racing headers on their 5.3?
I'm not looking at them for a performance gain, just more of fitment. Really just dont want to grind clearance in my frame for a set of headers...

Re: Anybody running Innov. Racing headers on their 5.3?
I am long tube headers on my 96 LT1 engine that has d-port heads, these headers are specified for a GenI 350 for a 69 GMC. If you can run the same headers as I am on the 5.3, you shouldn't have any clearance issue with running long tube header. I had to install the passenger side from the bottom of the truck, but once it was in there it didn't touch anything. I would say, if the oval port size covers the d-ports of the LS1 heads and the bolt placement is the same, you should just run the recommended long tubes for the year of the truck. I got mine thru AutoZone, cheaper painted ones. So, there is nothing special about them.
Otherwise, the ones you have found should be just fine.

Those look like the same ones I have on my LS1. I had mine ceramic coated as well. So far, they have been fine with no issues. They seem to be well built.

That's the news I ws looking for! THANK YOU!! I noticed you have the tubular motor mounts....I plan on just running my stock motor towers,67 mounts with 3/8" adapter plates. I read where guys were having issues with the #1 pipe hitting the motor towers....trying to avoid that issue, hoping these headers won't have that problem |

Re: Anybody running Innov. Racing headers on their 5.3?
I went with the tubular mounts because, at first, I planned to run manifolds, which hit one of the stock towers. These headers would have cleared the stock towers just fine, but I already had the tubular towers, so I kept them.
