horn button/ring help

This is the steering wheel and horn button parts that I have. They do not go together and I need to know what horn button parts will work. It can be a button or ring for a car or a truck, I just need to make sure I have a working horn. If I cannot work this out, I will pick up an aftermarket wheel. Thanks for any help.

Re: horn button/ring help

The black rubber grommet will fit into the horn cap. The metal cup will go on onto the wheel from the front and the plastic retainer & screws hold the metal cup down. You will see a slot on the metal cup, the rubber grommet once in the cap will fit into that slot. There should be a horn button that will fit into the extra hole on the wheel before any of the other parts go on. Let me see if I have a pic of one.

Heres a pic of the horn button. When the cap is pressed is presses on this and this is what makes the contact for the horn to blow. This is the only part I can see that your missing.

You still need the contact spring-a flat dished disc w/3 holes. Fits under the round metal cup on the left in your pic and contacts the piece 63 shows above.

Re: horn button/ring help

I know that I am missing the metal part but this wheel appears to be for a horn ring or a different button. I am guessing that this is a 1966 wheel or deluxe wheel. I have been searching for rings and have found that an early 60's nova horn ring might work.

Here's what the Deluxe '66 should look like. Mine was broken when I bought it. This ring was picked up off of ebay and came off the Nova/Chevy II

Are the buttons/wheels interchangeable? I thought that the wheel was the same only the button/ring were different. Would the button the OP posted a pic of work on the steering wheel you pictured and vise versa?

Re: horn button/ring help

whoa... your trying to put the std wheel horn button on a deluxe wheel. You need all std parts or all deluxe parts.
