stock springs vs lift spring capacity

Hey guys does anyone know if the lift springs from like tuff country are rated for the same capacity as the stock springs that came on our trucks. This is for a 3/4 ton mine for example is an 8400gvw but I out tuff country 2" springs on the truck? If I was to put a camper on will it have the same capacity as the stock ones did? I was almost wanting to go to the junkyard and get the big 8 leaf pack on the 3/4 tons and put that out back if not.

Re: stock springs vs lift spring capacity

I am not sure what make they are, cause they were on the truck when I bought it.But my 86 has 4" spring lift on rear and yes it's load capacity is less than my 82 that has stock 3/4 ton springs with blocks. The spring lift does ride a bit softer, but it does seem to wander a bit more than the 82 and they are both 3/4.The spring lift is even worse if you hook up the car hauler....

Re: stock springs vs lift spring capacity

Hey guys I'm reading all about the different 52 and 56" springs. My k20 is set il for the 52" in the rear and I'm getting rid of the lift springs and getting a set of stock springs at the junk yard. Would there be any benifit to going to the 56 in springs for my truck moving the hanger back?

Re: stock springs vs lift spring capacity

weird, just go home and checked and on my 75 k20 there are no extra bolt holes to move the rear shackle back to use the 56" springs. Unless they only did this on the half tons or not at all on the early trucks I dont see them on mine.
