Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
I've been on a search of the forums for who carries the best rubber floor mat that resembles the original, and I ran across this thread:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&highlight=mat Anyone have any updates on this? Or is there a mat you'd recommend? I want one that is similar to the original. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
I started a thread a few months ago asking the same thing and nobody knew anything. Hopefully someone will start remaking the original style mats soon, I need one for my '66!

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
Yes, we need good repro mats for our trucks. I have been talking to some people regarding pulling molds from my perfect original mats and the question that comes up most often is: Is the demand worth the effort?
The quantity of mats to be produced may dictate the type of mold required. A simple mold for a very limited run can be done cheaper than one intended for mass production. So, how many of you would like to have an exact replica of a factory mat? What do you think the average truck guy would pay for one? What would YOU pay for one? Keep in mind this is no small investment in time or money, so the demand needs to be there. Lets hear what you think on the matter. |

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
Call me cheap....
But where I am with finances today, $160.00 is the most I'd pay. I don't care if it's factory correct. Maybe theastronaut's thread is the more appropriate place to poll the numbers. Or maybe an actual thread with a poll. Personally, I'm just looking for a rubber floor mat that covers the area similar to the original. I don't want carpet, and I don't want one that covers the whole cab floor. Anyone have recommendations for a rubber floor mat? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
I bought mine about a year ago from Brothers $140.00 sale price for my 60..They told me they couldnt get the same mold pattern for the 60-63 so they sold me the 64-66 which It didnt matter to me as long as it fit. Looks good and happy with it....So your telling me they dont make it any more?

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
It's kinda a fine line to walk, the price will be a factor in how many people are interested, though for some people price won't matter. Too expensive and very few will buy them, too cheap and it won't be a quality product but more people will purchase them. It's like that in the VW parts industry. I'd say 75+ percent of the VW people are buying based off price alone. EMPI is one of the biggest parts suppliers and almost nothing they sell is worth the packaging it comes in. I've never seen worse quality in my life!
I would really like one for my '66 since I'm going with a stock/mild restomod theme and an aftermarket/non-correct mat would be way out of place. I'd almost fall into the category of price doesn't matter, since I have to have one and NOS or good used is almost impossible to find. That NOS one went for $500; would $200 or $250 retail be too much? If I remember correctly, the last correct repro mat I bought was $125 or $145 when they were still available five or six years ago. I'd buy 2 or 3 if they were still that price!

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
This reminds me...
I went to a local yard a few months back to look at the mat that was still in a gmc. Someone cut it right down the middle and then peeled it away to expose the high hump cover. The cover was pretty rusted, so it appears they did this destruction to see if the high hump cover was worth grabbing, but they obviously were too stupid to consider the value of the mat. Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
In today's world they would have to be made in China to be affordable. Classic Parts of America(was Chevy Duty then) had nice ones about 10 yrs ago, wish I had bought several back then.

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
another thread I posted in fairly recently:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=526413 i also added the link to Bob's Chevy Trucks in there, as well as info I received from Classic Parts regarding these mats...my dad ended up cleaning & using his original mat, so I quit researching Assuming it's still available, I know where there's an NOS low hump '64-66 rubber mat...but I'm not telling ....okay, okay...how much you willing to pay me to tell you? I would really like to have it for my truck, but I have many other things that are of higher priority

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
sorry, wasn't meaning to imply that I own it...but when looking for one for my dad, I came across a reputable source for the NOS mat....love that gauge cluster you restored & think it would be a nice trade if I owned the mat...I'm PM'ing you the necessary info though, so hopefully he still has it

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
Somehow this thread got sidetracked on 'Original' style reproduction.
Maybe my choosing the word 'Reproduction' is to blame. I don't care if it even resembles original. I just want one that covers the same area as the original did in these trucks. I've been tempted to buy the same mat that Mark purchased that covers the whole floor and cut it to the size of the original that only covers the front. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
In the last few months I've ran across posts where some have stored away a nice one for future use.
Captain I think was one who stored his but left it too long and it turned to garbage. . How would ones recommend we store our mats?

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

Re: Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat
The high and low humps mat's fitment is the same 60-66.
The pattern on 60-63 differ from the 64-66.

That is not an OE mat. The original mat pattern looks like the one below. (1962)
