Looking to add front bumper guards to my 1972 GMC. Are these a direct bolt on to any bumper or do they require special holes? Is finding original ones hard? I don't want perfect...my truck is my daily and well aged original. ;-)

Original bumper guards attach using the original inner bumper mount locations. No additional holes needed.

There are two different styles; tall with rubber pads and shorter all chrome. You might luck OU and find so
E originals on the parts board, but will probably be easier to go repro.

The earlier shorter ones with no pads require a little shaping to fit the 71/72 bumper better. Those were mounted outward from the frame requiring drilled holes. So,maybe even on 67-70 bumpers they'd need a little taken off to fit at the frame using bumper mount locations.
