Re: Stepside Bed Side Rails
Thanks. I have always had a hotrod or classic, but never a pickup. I really like the lines of the TF trucks. I got real lucky as this one has been a garage queen its whole life, so the body is in nice shape.
If anyone else has pictures of side rails I would like to see them. |

Re: Stepside Bed Side Rails
I used an oak board that started out as a 1 3/4 X 6 X 18"and cut it into 1 3/8 strips. Yeah it is odd that you cant buy just a regular piece of post to put in there. I had a friend with a rip saw so it took all of about a minute to do. So I ended up with four 1 3/8 X 1/3/4 posts. They fit really well. There is a spot on the back of the bed side where you can put a screw or anchor bolt in to secure them, but mine were pretty tight and I want to be able to take them out easily. The boards are standard 3/4 X 3 1/2 (1 X 4). Two at 80" and two at 54" did the trick. I think the longer stakes ended up being 13" long and the shorter ones were probably around 9" or so.
