had a couple in the last few yrs. shoulda never got rid of the last one.

as for the truck. think the 6 will stay. dont know much about it or what i can do to add a little pep to it. but ill start looking around for info on motor. what i do know is that the exhaust needs to be done. muffler is dented up. plan to find a place to do it from the block back. so im gonna look for some headers first that way it can all be put on together. planning to drop it like i did the 85 and 86. so i might have to get parts ordered soon so that i can drop truck prior to doing exhuast. body work will come down the road. i was planning on paying more for a truck. so since i got this one so cheap. ill use the extra money towards doing exhaust and suspension. and then drive. |

nice to see you found another square. I understand what your going thru now, I went thru hurricane IKE and it takes awhile to get things back in order after all that.

Re: back in a square...post storm
thanks man. feels good having a truck again. specially a square. think with closing on new home only a couple weeks away we are all feeling better. not going in with nearly as much as we would have before the storm. but we are going in together. with whatever was saved. and now a square.

Re: back in a square...post storm
Go all out
Chevy/GMC Six’s are cool, back-in-the-day I owned & drove a number of them for work, they are tougher than pig snot. We used to split the manifold, install dual exhausts. Modify or locate a manifold that excepted two single ("Rochester" ) barrel carburetors. Needless to say: There were not many aftermarket components’ available in those days, |

Re: back in a square...post storm
thanks for replies. think im gonna start with tune up.
muffler was cracked and bent up so i just cut it off today. gota order suspension parts asap so i can then get exhuast work done. now im looking for a header to start exhaust. so suspension, headers exhaust. ill be looking for a set of ralleys. truck came with cool looking old school steels and caps. cool retro look. but wheels looked like 5inch wheels so i pulled the 454 looking wheels off 92 and thru them on today. dont look bad. but cant seem to make centercaps work with 83. seems like the 83 lug is half inch. and the 92 lugs are metric?????? so the lug wont go onto c10 so i cant use the center caps.. they feel like the are a little loose at the begining but then tighten up. my buddy said its not worth trying cuz i might end up with wheel wobbleing off truck been there and done that with 82 i had. so maybe for now ill ride it as is with no caps. |

Re: back in a square...post storm
no ideas on how to fit centers uh?
well onto other issues.. the other night driving down 18 i had to lock up the brakes. post lock up...i have no brakes. get to work safe.... leaving work the next morning i notice a puddle if antifreeze in front of truck and another puddle under pumpkin.. pumkin = brake line that blew out when i locked them up. antifreeze.= still not sure. rad looks new and leak looks like its coming from under overflow tank??? realizing that the st8 six has either no power... or something is messed up with truck, engine or ??? shift into 4th gear and truck is dead. looking for ideas on how to add a little pep to the 6 wanted to order parts to lower truck but seems now i have some fixing to do. |

Re: back in a square...post storm
guess no one is running 454 wheels???
anyway, since buying trucks have had a couple issues.... lost brakes on the way to work... exhaust was a mess...muffler bent up, cat was bad etc... had new line run in rear. guy used 5 feet of line for a 4inch needed section. pulled old exhaust off, had one i had, like new from an 85 put in... bit loud. took it to muffler man to check out... sold me a cat. then after i pay , guy tells me,,,its still back fireing. he told me the reason for back firing at first was cat. now after new cat, truck still backfiring. maybe he knew i was flooded by storm. so he figured hed help take the last of my money. well this weekend, i tuned her up and gave it a much needed cleaning. was not expecting final results...
