These are stock L6 throttle linkages, I'm sure the V8's are the same:

As near as I can tell, they are 1/4-40. I see there are dies available in this thread, but I want to make sure before I order one. I need to thread a rod for my 3 carb set-up on my 292 project.

Measure off an inch and count the number of threads within it.

Since this isn't going to be your only thread count,I would suggest stopping by and industrial supply or Bolt supply.They wil have a thread guage.I thhink even sears has one.You might even get lucky if it's an industrial supply and get a wall chart for drill/tap sizes and other handy info.

I have a good pitch gage, and it looks closest to 40 p/inch, but my eyes just ain't what they used to be

I'll have to take them with me next time I go down to the big city and see what I can find.
