Re: looking at a truck need some help
That truck is nice, real nice. On the big trucks, the front fenders have a larger radius wheel well opening. The cab is the most important and basically is identical to the 1/2 ton cab. Im sure a guy restoring a big truck would love to have those front fenders. Nice find, Sean

Re: looking at a truck need some help
I don't know about price, since it seems to vary alot from one reigon to another. But I would take some measurements and put some thought into a 73-91 regular cab 2wd dually chassis. If you want it on the ground, it would look good (IMHO) sitting on 22" alcoas. And with those big fenders they just might fit. .02

Re: looking at a truck need some help
It looks like a 51 1-1/2 ton. It looks like it started out as a twin to the one I have out here and should be rated at 14,000 gross tonnage.
If it still runs and drives it's worth what it can do even more than what it is. Around this area there are still a number of those trucks that get used during harvest every year just as they did when they were new. If it doesn't run but has a title I'd think it was worth about 500 to 600 with a cab that was that nice. If it runs and drives and the tires are good somewhere between 1000 and 3000 might be the asking price depending on if the owner just thinks it's a work truck or if he thinks it's a collector item. The frame and axles and hubs weight up over a ton and will bring some good money for scrap or the straight part of the frame would make a nice base for a frame table to build truck or hot rod frames on. The bed might bring a bit if it is in good shape and more if it has a hoist. The hood is different at the back and is longer but to me has a more pleasing shape. The fenders bolt on the same but they are somewhat higher on the tops and the wheel well openings are larger. The fenders are also a bit wider. It actually wouldn't be a bad setup for a guy who wanted to stick it on an S 10 frame and run 22's or 24's. I'm no fan of those but think they would work pretty well with those fenders. Lately I've been thinking about taking the cab, hood and fenders I have on my 1-1/2 ton and setting them on a later chassis and setting the cab low so that It doesn't use running boards and then lowering it as low as I can get it along with trimming the bottom of the front fenders off even with the bottom of the doors. I've got so many projects in front of that one I'd probably be 80 before I could get to it though. What meterswinger suggested would make one nice truck too.

Re: looking at a truck need some help
I see you're in Evanston, but I don't know what state that's in.
I've seen two 1.5's in basically the exact condition in the past year advertised for 2,500 in my area. Both were running. The problem you're gonna run into with a non-dually conversion; the wheel openings (radius) are HUGE compared to a 1/2 or 3/4. And as mr48chev said, quite a bit wider too.

Re: looking at a truck need some help
Well I don't know if ill run a bed I was thinking of building a custom back half to lay out with and would the bigger radius be good for laying out on large tires such as 30 inch? I'm from Wyoming things are quite cheap around here my 69. C10 I paid 300 for running and driving and its very nice I'm also thinking it might be better to just clip it front and rear rather than a frame swap I havent heard good things about them

Re: looking at a truck need some help
i need to go out west to get my next project, around the rustbelt a rusted out non-running wreck would cost $1000
buy it, slam it and keep the dump bed
