Well I found out my cab is a 70 c20 cab. And my frame is a 1971 c10 frame. With a 69 bed haha ok it came with a straight six. What would I need to do to the suspension to get it up to a c20

Why do you want to get it to the C20 status? Hauling a lot in the bed? Towing a lot?
Did you check the VIN on the frame? How did you figure out is was a 71 C10?

a whole new suspension. But seriously, 71swb4x4 is spot on - what do you need?

I'm curious how you confirmed also - via frame VIN?

If you need a C20 for real, your easiest course of action is to sell wha tyou have (as a C10) and buy a C20 - or - truy to locate a C20 rolling chassis and swap it over. Doing it suspension piece by suspension piece still won't net you a C20 frame.

Well unless someone did a swap it has 5 lug axles and spindles and disk brakes and the partial vin said it was a 71

if you want to post your cab vin and your frame vin, you would get LOTS of detailed info here (you can leave off the last numbers that are just the sequential production number).

Am assuming your frame VIN starts CS141... and your cab VIN starts C(?)240..?
(?) is for what the original cab was paired with - E for V8/S for I6

I can sense your frustration. This is a buyer beware, dog eat dog market out there unfortunately - I feel for ya learning this stuff after the fact, can only imagine how frustrated you are.

Its not really frustrating but confusing the cab vin is cs240b the frame is 1b64 something

So what are your intentions with the truck? When you have a clean slate that will determine what to put there. These trucks aren't rare, converting it back to a C20 just because there is a C20 logo on the fender will not increase the value of the truck.

If your goal is to haul some lumber from the lumber yard once in a while for home projects, heavier springs will do everything you need them to do. You may not even need to do that.

If you are pulling a 10,000 pound trailer you will be looking at the full monty, larger rearend/brakes/springs, heavier front end/springs/brakes.

in that case - if you don't care that you have a bit of a cab/frame mis-match, a C10 (frame) can easily handle the big block (they came with them too) and tow a small camper. Perhaps just some heavy duty shocks, sway bars, upgraded HD/lower springs, etc and you're set.

Lots of people have mutts. No worries, you should be able to make it work with a little effort.

My truck is one of those mutts and as close as I can tell it is made up of parts from at least 9 different years, I guess it could be called a "Johnny Cash Special", named after one of his songs, lol. It is a '67 swb C-20 stepper. One of the most noticable things is it has a '62 GMC tailgate.

That is one of the things I like about these trucks, many parts are interchangeable.

I guess my point is fix up your truck the way you like it.
