1971 Medium green K 5 Blazer
I just purchased this Blazer six months ago from the original owner. I chose to paint it the original medium green color because I think it's a rare color. Everybody told me to change the color, but I think I made the right choice to keep it original. Has anybody ever seen one this color? I am new to the forum and wish I had known about it before I started restoring the truck. Thanks, Brian

I like it and I also plan on painting my the original color when I get around to it (and have the $$$). If you are like me, the color will grow on you.

I like the color. Some white letters on the tail gate will add some finished detail.

Re: 1971 Medium green K 5 Blazer
Thanks to everybody for the positive comments. I found the blazer by accident while driving through a local neighborhood in California. I didn't know much about them, but knew it was a nice truck. Seller was asking $7500 and I offered $5300 and he said yes. I took it to a local body shop and they confirmed that it was original paint no rust and no body work had been done. Original engine and transmission. After looking at the forum I realize that no rust is pretty rare. Looking forward to summer and cruising with the top off. Here's a picture of the Blazer the day I bought it. I hope I am posting this picture correctly. Thanks again.

What a great story.... that thing looks awesome, and a no rust original - wow. I also found mine in Calif - 2nd owner, original paint, a small rust spot on the door (plugged drain hole) .... but yours looks to be in fantastic shape. Congrats!!

Re: 1971 Medium green K 5 Blazer
Wow looks like a home run! I've never seen that color but I like it very much. I have an Ochre blazer which is another color that people sometimes dislike and say I should change it but I never would. I think the crazy ass colors they sometimes painted cars in the 70's is half the fun. Enjoy your new Blazer!

Re: 1971 Medium green K 5 Blazer
I'm still trying to decide on the wheels. I bought a set of rally's and restored them, but now that the top is done in white I kind of think the white ones look good ???? I will post a picture tomorrow after we put the top back on.

Re: 1971 Medium green K 5 Blazer
I dont know how it would look, but you could powder coat your rallys white. You see it a lot with hugger, or red rallys, and chrome center/trim ring.

Re: 1971 Medium green K 5 Blazer
I sprayed one in medium green and i didn't like it. They are silver now, but I might spray one white and see how it looks. I do plan on powder coating once I decide on the color. Thanks

Re: 1971 Medium green K 5 Blazer
I dont know if they have les schwab in Cali, but I had a set of rallys blasted, and powder coated for something like $120 for 4. It took a few weeks, but worth it.

Re: 1971 Medium green K 5 Blazer
Wow. That is goood lookin! I googled, and there are L.S. in Cali, but only norcal. 75 a wheel is what I was looking at, untill I stumbled across a "boy racer" forum thread about powder coating. Its funny, they truck the powder coating jobs to socal and thats why it takes so long. Or so I was told.
Man, thats a cool truck! |
