Frickin bug!!!
I've had this bug in my truck for bout 1.5-2 years and haven't found it yet. When you give it some gas it starts stalling and sometimes it dies, mostly from a stop or if at a slow speed and go to pick up speed. Here's a list of things that have been replaced,
Rebuilt throttle with new seals and injectors New IAC valve New ICM New Plugs, wires, cap, rotor New fuel pump New fuel filter New map sensor New pick up coil And still haven't found it yet, anybody have any ideas as to what it could be? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Frickin bug!!!
Seems like you covered the most likely bugs. Is this when its cold or does it happen after its warm also? Also check the steering column, I had trouble with a short in the tilt steering that would make it die also.

Edit: the only thing that I cant remember if it was replaced or not is the fuel pressure regulator, I remember getting one but not changing it.

Re: Frickin bug!!!
+1 to this...the horn blowing fuses is also a sign you may have severe steering column wiring issues. i had a pickup that would stall everytime my wife drove it but would run fine when i did. i let her drive to show me and it turned out it was her 3 pound key ring. i used a single key when i drove with no key ring...the weight of her keys would shift and a loose ignition caused it to stall whenever she accelerated hard.

Re: Frickin bug!!!
Would I be able to swap in a 73-87 steering column since my truck has cruise control and the wiper blade adjustments on it, or would I have to use a 88-98 column (if it will even fit)?

Re: Frickin bug!!!
Seeing as you've replaced almost everything concerning the fuel system, there are just a couple places left to look. You can check for debris in the fuel tank, and or the fuel lines. Re check your fuel filter, but even if there isn't anything in it, doesn't mean you don't have a solid blockage inside the fuel line causing a starving fuel issue on demand. Also, check for vacuum leaks! Vacuum leaks can cause some really frustrating issues. It could be a hose, or around the manifold. Those are a couple places you could start. Good luck in your search.

You can still get a good one on ebay easily, just make of the year and stalk so it'll match up.

I would also check the pick up in the distributor. Pull the distributor cap off and look at the base and the pick up. If it's rusty it could cause you trouble, I've had a bunch of these go bad. A new distributor is pretty cheap at the parts store.

Re: Frickin bug!!!
Did you clean or replace the EGR? A clogged EGR will cause an off idle stumble.
A far as the column, any coulmn 84- up should work. |

Re: Frickin bug!!!
A friend of mine said to check the EGR valve too. I guess I'll do that before I think about the column.
