About to bag
Thanks to a friend I will finally get a bagged vehicle. We're bagging 2 trucks in the up coming months. My 65 and his 66. All of the materials are in the mail on their way. First agenda is to remove the bed and do the notch. I've been lurking a lot and notice a lot of different types and sizes.
What determines if I need a giant notch or just a small one? Looking at Dino's newest build it looks like a small notch but I've seen some really major ones. I also noticed some bags are attached directly to the trailing arms, looks like no cups or plates, am I just not seeing something? Any and all help, advice/comments and links are very welcome. |

Re: About to bag
Got some views but no responses. I've looked some more and learned it's gonna be a step notch (giant). Anybody got a comment or pictures of the bags mounted to the trailing arms?

Re: About to bag
Low to me is like a midget with a flatop with huge nuts, wearing flipflops

Re: About to bag
But you'd get that midget lower by takin' off those flip flops and cuttin' the flattop!

Re: About to bag
Too funny.
I also would like to see some pictures of airbag setups on the trailing arms. |

Re: About to bag
This picture is a good example of wasted lift potential in an airbag. In this picture there is about 3 inches of lift being wasted by not having the bag fully collapsed. The axle is sitting on the bump stop and the bag is nowhere near collapsed. If the bump stop was removed and a much smaller one installed the bag would collapse more and thus more lift would be obtained.
On the flip side, this set up could be half way done, meaning the owner could be swapping up to 22 inch wheels and needed room for the bag to collapse more/axle move up higher. Or he is saving up for a c-notch and needs more room to lower the rear further. Or if this is the final “drop” the owner should install a bigger cup on either the top or bottom of the bag to fully collapse the bag to get more lift, and a softer ride. |

Re: About to bag
The reason it still has bumpstops is this is a 1962 frame with the x in the middle. Till a two piece drive shaft is installed thats as far as I am going. Plus the track bar mount needs trimming and the bag is empty. Just put them in at this picture. I did readjust the cup for air line. For more pictures and updates here is my Cardomain page.

Re: About to bag
Here's how I did my '66. CPP bolt in C-notch and AirLift D2600 bags mounted straight to the frame. I am going to redo the C notch and go with a 2" pipe notch instead and box the inside of the frame. The CPP notches are too weak to tow and the pipe notch will let me keep the original strength of the frame so I can tow. Either will be low enough to need bumpstops or else the differential will hit the bed floor.
Link to info on different notch types and how strong they are: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=457037 No bags installed in first pic.
