New member with question
As a new member I spent a lot of time looking over this forum. It looks like I'm in the right place judging by the wealth of knowledge and friendliness here.
The question that I have is about the '63 GMC 1000 short bed step side that I'm working on. The 305 V6 that was in it needed major work so I replaced it with a 350 SBC. With the 350 in place the front of the GMC sits noticeably higher. Those V6 GMCs are heavy engines. Are the C-10 front springs rate any less than the GMC springs and can the C-10 springs be used in place of the GMC springs? I really would like to bring the front end back down a bit. |

Re: New member with question
Welcome to the forum!
I don't have any specs on the springs, but the rate on the Chevy springs is no doubt lower since a small block Chevy weighs somewhere around 500 pounds while a 305 V6 is closer to 800 pounds. The Chevy & GMC suspension & steering parts are the same, so swapping springs should help lower the nose. 1" or 2" lowering springs are also available.

Re: New member with question
Thanks for the welcome TehNewGuy.
I've had this GMC since October 1 1998 and this is the first major work that it has needed. I'll try posting some photos later today. |
