Serpentine question with vintage air
I was thinking of going with a serpentine kit to clean up the engine bay. The truck is a 70 c10. The PO put a different engine in it, I decoded the engine code stamped on the engine. It's nothing special, looks like it came from an 83 truck. Currently it has a long water pump, the PS pump is on the drivers side and the alternator is high on the passenger side. I understand I may have to switch to a counterclockwise water pump to work with a serpentine setup. I am not looking for anything special, doesn't have to be billet or flashy. What would be cool is something functional and inexpensive. I do not have AC now, but I am planning on going with a vintage air AC kit, and the compressor on that thing looks massive. I would like to find a kit that will work for what I have now, and accommodate the Vintage Air compressor in the future. Any ideas?

Im running serpentine on mine off a 90 GMC Suburban. You wont be able to run the Vintage A/C compresser but does that really matter? My 90 factory a/c compresser works fine (or it did in the 90, not hooked up yet). Here is a pic with system bolted on, no belt. I also dont have power steering fo now but its just a shorter belt.

Actually you can run the Sanden compressor. Vintage Air brackets for conversion are part number 141805. It's for use on a GM serpentine kit like you're talking about. Gets rid of the undependable and fugly pancake compressor that GM put on them.

A GM serpentine system from any early 90s c/k 1500 pickup will bolt right up with no problems. All the accessories (water pump, PS pump, alt, tensioner, etc) will need to come from that system, it's easy, just pick a year, say 1992 and use that when buying parts. All the parts are readily available from your local auto parts store. As far as vintage air goes, they have brackets to run any compressor. I'm running a serp system with a GM compressor and vintage air. There are a few pictures in my profile album and my build thread.

Lee... do you know how you tied/connected the two wires up from the compressor with the vintage air harness? I have a black and a green wire from the stock harness of the compressor and can't find out where they SHOULD go

I connected the VA blue compressor wire to the stock compressor green wire, the stock compressor black wire to ground.
