No start condition, electrical

For the past week its been giving me a hard start condition as in the solenoid will engage but after a few and then many turns of the key it would crank. i replace the ignition switch behind the dash now im getting not even the solenoid to engage. pulled the starter bench tested it it worked just fine. I did short something while i was removing the clip but the only thing i noticed wasn't working is the seatbelt buzzer but its back on and working. I'm puzzled.

Re: No start condition, electrical

If you have a multimeter. I would check voltage at the starter. when you replaced the ignition switch .. you have to make sure it's set right, so the rod will actually engage. ... I would have tested the starter on the truck.

Re: No start condition, electrical

Took it to the mechanic, it was alot of everything. no grounds, old rotted wires and a tricky switch.

Re: No start condition, electrical

I'm having the intermittent Failure to Crank problem. I dropped the starter down to better check the terminals. I also jumped the Bat to the Start and it seemed to work ok. The Start terminal did not show voltage when the Ign Switch was moved to the Start position. So now I am trying to get at the switch on the column.

Is it possible to get the switch out of there without removing the column?

If so, do you pull the connectors off first or what? Thanks in advance.
