71/72 Side Mirrors any problems?
I have a 69 and I bought the period correct mirror arms and I went with the larger 5x7 mirror. I cannot take the vibrating shaking mirror, its useless unless your going under 30 mph. I've tried re-tightening everything, added extra gaskets for cushion and nothing really helped.
So I am getting the 71/72 mirrors also called sport mirrors I believe, but before I order them, has anyone had any problems with them shaking or anything like that? Does anyone have any advice on them? What size is the mirror part? Is it big enough to see decent in traffic? I thought about going with the west coast style mirror, but I think they are to big. Thanks!

it is not really big enough to see well in traffic, especially if you are used to the 5x7 69 rectangles. but the sport mirrors look cool... Might consider the small tripod mount mirrors that were on the highlanders and several others... Or perhaps try one more set of your stockers. I think those are good looking mirrors, wish they had kept them thru 72, but oh well. I've never had an issue with them vibrating though, fortunately.

The round heads for the stems you have dont vibrate to bad, at 60mph or so they do some but you can still see whats behind you. Well mine are not bad at all.
The mirrors he is talking about work real well also but thats more holes in the doors. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 71/72 Side Mirrors any problems?
I was wondering about the round mirrors, but I go 65-70 on a regular basis so that won't work. I don't care for those tripod mount ones all that much.
I have only had the 5x7 mirrors for a couple weeks with problems from the start, so I've never been used to them. The PO put small car mirrors on it. They were maybe 3x4 and sat to low, so were useless as well. Thanks for the input! Posted via Mobile Device

I put the later 71-72 sports mirrors on my 69 and they are small and dont have much adjustment, however they are solid and provide a good view. I added bubble mirrors "the little dots that go in the corner" and i can see everything. I recommend them.

I got the 71-72 mirrors and Devil Pup you aren't kidding about the lack of adjustment. The passenger side is turned in as far as it goes and that just barely works for proper viewing. Maybe the passenger side mirror is made for the passenger....

Here's what I had to do to the passenger mirror to get a little more adjustment out of it.

Lol i wouldnt doubt that. . But if you are pretty close to being where you want. Slap a bubble mirror on the outside bottom corner and it broadens up the view 10 fold |
