What color were engine blocks from the factory in 1984?

So I think I'm going to pull the engine from my 84 and want to paint the engine block and heads the original color they came out in 1984 my truck is a c10 silverado. If anybody has pictures or links of original color engines that would be great as well.

Re: What color were engine blocks from the factory in 1984?

When I built my engine for my 76 I painted black, orange may be correct but black is better in long run and doesn't show dirt/grease/grime

Re: What color were engine blocks from the factory in 1984?

81 was the last year for corporate blue. After that it was black. I was into the Fbody Z28's and Trans Ams in the 77-81 era. I could'nt understand that blue color but always but them back that way.

When I went through my engine it was black and now it is Chevy orange. My truck also is an '84 Silverado. Orange just looks best and orange is all Chevy. MO
