Radiator for 350 in 66 C-10

I am swapping my stock 250 6 cyl. for a 350 next week end. Will my stock radiator work with the 350? What other cooling factors are important. We are rewiring this week and will have plenty of circuits and are thing about an electric fan. This is all new for me and I need advice.

Honestly it probably wont cool you those usually have pretty small radiators in them You can get aluminum replacements for about $300-$400 with electric fans Get ahold of Travis at Pro Performance he is a forum vendor awesome to deal with these are nice aluminum radiators I ordered 2 of them from him havent got either one installed but I got 2 of them in my basement and if you are a forum supporting member he splits shipping with you also

You will have to upgrade to at least an original style V8 radiator, that sits on top of the radiator crossmember. Then you can also use an original style fan shroud.

You can also go the route Travis suggested. It just depends on your budget.

I have a v8 radiator in my 66 with a warmed up 350. Last summer it never got over 182 degrees even idling for extended periods. It was in to low 90's in the summer. I do have dual electric fans hooked up just in case.

I can speak from the personal experience of using the stock 6cyl radiator a high flow water pump, electric fan and engine mounted fan, nothing did anything to cool the warmed 350. I could run hiway with no issues at 200 degrees indicated. Any hill would send it quickly over 230. In the city was less than enjoyable, maybe 6 miles, before eclipsing 220. Do yourself and your engine a favor and install at the bare minimum a 3 row V8 radiator, shroud and fan. I'm researching aluminum radiators, shroud and electric fans for my budget. Although I never popped a head, I did sizzle the all the paint off the block, heads, and ceramicoat off the header. Not a warm fuzzy and no where near the knowledge I have now as opposed to 20+ years ago.

This is what I did. A local radiator shop sold me a 3-row Modine stock replacement for a 64 C10 with 283 V8. It was less than $300. It cools a fairly modified 350 just fine (same engine ran low 13's in the 1/4 mile in my 69 Chevelle).

As Captain states, it sits on top of the frame rails and sits a bit higher. The biggest challenge is an upper radiator mounting bracket. It seems like most people fabricate something, but I got lucky and found a stock upper mount for a V8 radiator at a swap meet.
