Question Fire under hood. What part is this?

Well I got home from a long trip for work and thought I would run the truck to warm it up. Run well then died cause it was pretty cold. When I started it back up it back fired and boom big fire. I am wondering about a plug on the firewall. It is a plastic plug with 2-3 wires. It is just to left of the trans dipstick in the picture. The engine is a 1978 350. Any help. Cant seem to find it online. Thanks Well couldn't upload the pic. Think its because im at work.

Thanks. Been looking for just the plug assembly or plug with wires from wall to engine. Do you know where to get one. I just cant seem to find one. Only full harnesses.

So did your carb have leaks or the fuel supply line come off? Wiring meltdowns usualy just smoke till something catches fire ,no big booms with flames.sounds like it died because the fuel was going someplace other than the carb.

Re: Fire under hood. What part is this?

Yah, i think it must have been leaking because after back fire the fire was under the truck on the floor as well. Thats where i first saw it. Its hard to tell if the back fire blew the line or if it was sitting there leaking. The main issue is the engine harness connector on fire wall and 3 other wires that the previous owner had running thru the firewall. I dont know for sure where they go yet. I know i need a new engine harness and i found that but the connector that goes thru the fire wall is melted to and didnt see that one on the same site. I am def not an electrician. Hate figuring out wiring issues.
