Chummins Build
I started a build thread on c10forum but I think i will continue the build here on 67-72. Seems c10forum is flooding with only a handfull of users therefore I would like to share with you guys.
I believe i will just start by uploading some pictures and giving a brief discription. Feel free to comment, i love criticism. This was the day i brought the truck home (Fall of 2011) This is the motor I ran last summer. 307/296 high comp heads, weiand, noisey gear drive. Donor truck. 92d250 5.9 pulled. Replaced rear-main seal, changed fluids motor and trans. Upgraded to 13" flywheel & South Bend Clutch |

Re: Chummins Build
Picked up and '87 c20 rolling frame for dirt. 8lug disc brake front 3/4 ton clip and corp 14 bolt full float rear. Scrapped the frame with the dodge and made my money back plus some.
Doghouse removed 3/4ton clip from the 87 frame rolled right under and bolted right in place. Only had to drill out 2 holes and redrill 1 hole per side. Setting the cummins inplace After mounts were built the only major issues i had was a front cross brace and turbo hits heater box. Bent a plate and placed between balancer and brace. heated with torch and lowered motor down to bend it out of the way. Transmission: used factory th350 crossmember. Flipped upside down and actually bolted into where the transfer case may have mounted from factory |

Re: Chummins Build
11" booster from MBM. Need to make some modifications to the bracket or cut another hole in the fire wall. The linkage runs about an ince above the factory hole. Therefore need to cut out the hole in the firewall or drill new holes in the bracket.
Added a return line back to the tank and a vent line since my cap doesnt work correctly Running the HE351 off 04.5-07 cummins. Had to get a flange machined that clamped to the back of turbo and build my downpipe from 2-4" 90* and a couple inches of stright. Also had to make the oil line to the turbo and modify the oil return from the turbo. Oiler housing had to be clocked about an hour&half so the inlet was at 12 o'clock |

Looking good. Looks like a LOT of work but will be worth it in the end.

Re: Chummins Build
I will be running 4" exhaust behind the rear tire (as it should be). I didnt want it to hang low so i welded a piece of 6" pipe in the crossmember for the exhaust.
Hello Downpipe This catches up to date. I did finally get a chance to fire it up and after getting the air out of the lines she ran pretty good. Plan on painting inner fender tonight and putting doghouse back on tomorrow. Then I can start mounting the inner cooler and do some plumbing! |

Re: Chummins Build
Thank you for the kind words. This is my first build out of my own pocket. Im 25, father of 2 (2&5) and work over 12 hours a day... so needless to say my shallow pockets are made up with pride in my own work.

Re: Chummins Build
Got doghouse set on. First just have to say I could start a small hardware store with all the bolts I removed just for the grille. Anyway it is out of the way to start fitting the IC. Also I can see I will be looking into drop kits foe the front. About 5" from fender lip to tire.

IC in place
Had to cut up a perfect core support but the 2nd gen IC fits. My old electric fan wont fit anymore. Anyone know of a good skinny fan? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Chummins Build
Heres a picture i had on my phone. not sure exactly from the fan hub. The radiator is in factory location. These diesels run cool so i wont need much. i found 2-10" dia x 2" thick e-fans for under $40. Whatever i do get will be on a temp switch so they unless they need to. |

A Cummins Fan!!!!!! Yay!! Good choice on a first gen motor. I owned a 93 my self. If ya need any info on motor mods hit me up. When I sold my truck it was a healthy 400hp motor.

Re: Chummins Build
Glad to see another Dodge getting scrapped and the only good part going into a Chevy. I love my 68 K20 with a 12 Valve. Tons of torque and great mileage!
A side note: I strongly encourage you to run U bolts over the rear axle as I wouldn't trust bolts holding down the axle once you play with the torque of the motor. Other than that it looks awesome and this is the fan I used for mine: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Ultima...-80,42296.html 91015682 from Speedway Motors; expensive but it fit the stock Dodge radiator very nicely and when it actually has run (rare unless a trailer is hooked up) it easily cools off the engine. I have very little room between my engine and rad and it works great.
