Start soaking it in some penetrating oil.

#3 what they said.
Then also "lockdoc" made a post about how to take it apart. Read it carefully, I suck at comprehension and screwed one up taking it apart. |

Re: How do i get these apart - Hatch Handle
How did you get that off the hatch? Mine looks just like what you have (well mine has way more rust). I believe once the cotter pin is out of the handle bar it should slide out but mine appears to be rusted solid together. I have tried penetrating oil, hammering the end of the bar and heat and it will not budget. The plate that holds/retains the side levers is wider than the hole that the assembly slides into. Did you remove this from a hatch or get it the way you have it in your photo? I don't understand how you could have got it out of the hatch and not have it disassembled.
Here is mine Blazer Hatch Handle by Luftwaffepdx, on Flickr I have given up on it and am looking for a replacement - once found, I'm going to cut mine in half so it will come apart. |

When it gets to that point. You have to cut it off, and find a new handle. Most people go to a garage door handle, but then its not original.

PDX - I dont really have an answer. The guy who did the body work got it out. He may have ripped it out and then reglassed it.

I'm not sure how the part with the large spring on it comes off but it looks like it should just slide off of the shaft. Randy (teeitup) should be able to tell you if you PM him. Once you get that off here is the instructions on how to get the rest of it apart... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=503101 LockDoc
