73-80 fender height?
I have an 89 crew cab dually that is bagged and body dropped. It's going in for paint and I had the body shop convert it to a 77 front end. Anyway, the body shop feels that the 77 hood won't clear the top of my motor (due to the body drop). I figured it wouldn't be a problem since the 73-80 fenders have no slope and the old (newer style) hood and fenders cleared (barely). Are the older fenders not as tall? Any suggestion? Trying to avoid a cowl hood because I'm golfing with a moulding on, original style look. Thanks, Mike

You will have slightly more room with the older front end. Make sure you have the correct body bushings under the core support. If the bodyshop still cant figure it out, go to a different bodyshop. Because it sounds like they dont know what they are doing.

Re: 73-80 fender height?
He pointed out the mounts for the core support yesterday. They've been moved up to to z' ing the frame, so it looks like there's not much room for a bushing. He was talking about cutting the mint off and moving it down, but it worked on the other front end so I don't see why it wouldn't work on the 77, unless the mounts and bushings are completely different.

Whether you have a Zd frame or not, you should have room for the bushing under the core support. Your core support is the key factor in making the fenders and hood line up.

Re: 73-80 fender height?
So I've read on other posts that since I have the newer style frame, I need to move the core support mounts. I have 81-87 cab bushings, do I use the same for the 77 core support or the older bushings?

Re: 73-80 fender height?
Really dont know. I thought the mounts were in the same location reguardless if 73-80 or 81-91. I'd try the correct bushings to the older front end.
