Please tell me if my K10 front springs are worn.
I posted a thread on the 4X4 forum, but can't seem to get a response. Please don't delete this or move it if possible. I have been searching the site trying to find out if my front leafs are worn and sagging. From what I've read, it seems as though some of them are almost flat with little or no arch. On mine there is some negative arch to the front springs and there is only about 1-1/4" from the top of the springs to where it would hit the rubber frame bumper. Seems like maybe they have worn and there is not enough lift, but I'm not sure. Maybe this has worn and sagged over the years. Can someone shed some light here please?

If they are the factory springs I would just replace them, 44yrs old you know they are shot. Mine where and I replaced them and the truck rides sooo much better now.
Before it would bottom out on the rubber stop on any type of real bump. Posted via Mobile Device |

Stock front springs actually arch backwards it's called semi-eliptical, but as mentioned if they are that old they are shot, no question.

Did you replace them with the 2.5" Skyjacker like your signature says, or was that a different truck?

Did you do anything to the rear springs? What about shocks and steering?

Re: Please tell me if my K10 front springs are worn.
Thats why I just went 2.5" as I did not want it to look lifted or hard to get in or make it hard to use because of it being to high.
I went with 2" blocks in the back if I did it again I would of went with springs and maybe this summer I will change them out since they are 44yrs old..lol I did new skyjacker shocks all the way around along with a new steering stabilizer and a drop Pittman arm. Posted via Mobile Device |

Also, do you have to change out the steering stabilizer and put in a drop pitman arm for just a 2.5" lift?

Yes they make a kit that is a full spring kit with no blocks, and I dont think you need a drop pittman arm I think thats something they just push on you when you buy the kit.
I would guess you would not need a drop pittman arm untill you hit a 4" kit. Posted via Mobile Device |
