5.3 engine question
hi guys i have a 1968 chev truck and i am wanting to swap out the old carbureted engine and install a 5.3 chev LS engine and wondering what year is the best for the 5.3 engines to choose and can you get good old school sound out of the new engines like the old ones

Best one? Most guys like the 03-07 but any will be a step up from a tired carbed motor.

uhh, I'm with clyde on this.....best year in terms of, what?
And what do you mean by "old school sound"? That usually just means LOUD. And so ya, they are plenty loud. Its a pushrod v8, so it'll sound like a pushrod v8, its not like those goofy blue oval cars with their fancy overhead cams.

He probably means which one makes the most power stock. As far as old school sound that's a cam swap.
