Problem with new bushings. NEED HELP!

I got the bushings out of my shackles. The ones that came out did not have an outer sleeve and the new ones do. The ID and OD of the shackle eye and the bushing sleeve are different. The shackle is 1.375 id and the bushing is 1.5 od. Are there two different size bushings for shackles?

Now on to the leaf spring bushings. They are different too. The leaf eye measures just short of 1.5 id and the outer sleeve of the bushing mesures 1.77 od.
Did I just get the wrong bushings all together? This is in my 85 short bed. It is not the original rear end or leafs since it is a 12 bolt and not sure what year it came out of. I just ordered parts for the 85.What gives?

Re: Problem with new bushings. NEED HELP!

I would assume that these new bushings need pressed in but that is quite a difference to start out with.

Re: Problem with new bushings. NEED HELP!

The rear spring bushing and shackle should be the same size. But on some springs the front end of leaf springs are bigger. Mine were bigger in the front and were the longer 56" leafs. I used polyurethane bushings. Very easy to install.

Re: Problem with new bushings. NEED HELP!

I am not sure how you measure the leafs correctly but I measured mine from eye to eye on the inside radius and they are 52's. By application my truck calls for two different leaf bushings. I ordered MOOG bushings SB351 for front and SB335 for the rear. The rear bushings seems like they would press in pretty easy and I think they would work for the front eyes as well. The shackle bushing is a different story though. These are suppose to be pressed in right?, or should they slide right in. The way mine looks, I will either have to tap them in or press them in.

Re: Problem with new bushings. NEED HELP!

Are the shackle bushings supposed to have an outer sleeve on them. The ones that came out did not but the ones that I ordered that won't fit have an outer sleeve on them.

I end up ordering two more SB335 bushings for the leaf spring front eyes. They will be in tomorrow. That should take care of the leafs now just got to get the shackles lined out.

Re: Problem with new bushings. NEED HELP!

Does anybody have any info they can give me. I am not even sure what my shackles come off of. The id of the shackle specs at 1.375 and what I bought is 1.5 which of course won't work. I got on napa prolink and had to go back to 1972 before I found a bushing that was less than 1.5. In 72 they spec at 1.25. So that won't work either. I can't seem to find a shackle bushing that specs at 1.375. Someone shed some light on this. I am not sure where to go from here.

Re: Problem with new bushings. NEED HELP!

Cant help you on the new stock bushings because I dont know. I upgraded to the poly to firm up the suspension. As far as leaf length, if you have 4 or 5 they are the 52". The 56" leafs have 7 to 8 leafs.

Re: Problem with new bushings. NEED HELP!

I just can't seem to find a bushing that is 1.375". I really don't want to buy a whole set of shackles because I am not sure if I will need the drop shackle once I put the flip kit on. That is pretty much spending money twice or in my case three times.
