Wiring a vortec engine
Just getting started on the wiring harness. 3 wires of the revamped engine harness need 12v when the switch is on. Do I use the coil wire from the fuse box for the power?

Re: Wiring a vortec engine
I didn't look to see if you have a build page going but it would make things simpler for the guys if you list out exactly what you have so they can sort it out and offer workable suggestions.
Does it still have the FI and matching distributor? Computer that came with the engine and harness that came with them? What fuse block and wiring harness? If it has a computer I'm lost from the get go as my technology knowledge quits at that point.

Re: Wiring a vortec engine
OK, I have a 4.8 vortec from a 2007 GMC pickup, with the computer and transmission from the donor vehicle. The engine harness was reconfigured for my 56 pickup. The fuel injection is still on the engine. It is a simple wiring harness with 12 circuits and the GM color codes. All the wires are marked, but for a sbc with a distributer. There are 3 wires in the engine harness that need 12v with the key on. Do I use the wire in the main harness for the coil ( which I don't need ) to put 12v to the 3 wires?
