hei
it wouldnt let me vote for some reason.any ways unless you just happen to have an msd or something just lying around i would go with the GM HEI it reliable and just plain hard to beat plenty of kits out there for them and alot cheaper that means more money for something else anyways thats my 2 cents worth good luck

Just Buy the MSD Pro Billet Distributor. It comes ready to rock and roll.
OR You can buy the MSD Super HEI Kit for $150 and add it onto your factory distributor, as well as tune the centrifugal advance springs and the vacuum advance canister with an aftermarket kit. |

From what I've seen and heard.....MSD is probably the best, but they are extremely expensive. Honestly, I don't know that the price is justified but perhaps it is. I have never used an MSD distributor. I have used the Accel HEI's and several stock ones, and if used with premium components, they are both excellent.

I would buy the msd if I had the funds.
BTW: 1904qjet is the best carb

Stock GM distributor with MSD internals. But if all you have is a carb, a stock GM distributor is more then plenty of spark. You dont need aftermarket ignition till you get to 9.5:1+ compression and 5000+rpm's.

If you want a good one get a ZZ4 model distributor. Ignitionman from another board gave me some tips on tweaking it and really woke mine up.

im upgrading shortly, i just got an accel supercoil and im picking up the spring and weight kit aswell as the adjuatable vac adv dealy. from what i heard playing with the weights and springs helps bring that power on quite a bit stronger... also hear that the hei modules are P'sOS i guess all they do is go for more accurate dwell and optimize sparking time but the price is ginormous
