Tons of little lights, led's, and panels. Just make sure to check the voltage and order a resistor if you need to.

Re: check engine light

I just rigged mine into my choke light. Did the older 70's trucks have any dummy indicators?

Re: check engine light

bohmankid my truck may have had the option for a brake and something else as a dummy light but my particular truck doesn't have them, i can see where they may have gone though

Re: check engine light

This pic didn't turn out the greatest, but what I did was took the "service engine soon" part out of a '90 suburban dash and put it in the unused spot in the gas gauge. The opening isn't big enough for the whole thing, so it just says 'service engine'.

What's the yellow light at the top left of your fuel gauge? Low fuel light?

Re: check engine light

I've been looking into this as well. Mine is throwing the code for low voltage on the MIL haha. I switched all of my gauges to autometers so I'm going to make a panel in the center gauge spot with all of the indicators; blinkers, high beam, and check engine. I'm looking at using a few of these in different colors

Yes. It's a low fuel light. It works, but doesn't have any kind of buffer in the circuit, so when you start to get low it will go on and off as the float moves, so it's not as accurate as a new car, but oh well!

Re: check engine light

The guy that wired mine in used the original check engine light and its currently on for i think 3-5 codes. Emissions code that didn't get deleted out yet, tranny code because i haven't finished that yet, oxygen sensors because i haven't put exhaust on it yet and 2 other codes i can't remember

Re: check engine light

For anyone interested, I did a full autometer swap for my gauges and couldn't figure out what to do about the blinkers/ high beam/ and MIL. Turns out those LEDs I posted earlier are literally the perfect size to go right into the stock dash with no modification whatsoever. It is essentially a bolt and nut with an LED on the head. Slide the front through the dash, tighten the nut snug up to the back of the dash and you're good to go. Unfortunately when they blink it's like staring into the sun, so I'm trying out a few different resistors now. You could also use a pot if you want to be able to dim them, but the rest of my cluster doesn't so I wasn't worried about it. Also, you don't have to, but I think they would look better without being able to see the diodes through the polymer on the head so I've scuffed up the face a little bit. That also diffused a bit of light. I'll try to get pics up tomorrow.
