Question I Need Help?

I just bought a 1979 GMC High Sierra Jimmy its a good truck, But I have some issues with it. To Start, I can not get the gauges to light up and Where the old Fuse box used to be there is a newer one yet all the writing is missing. I do know it takes a 20 sized Fuse, but the issue I am having is, The Fuse will not stay in, I have already taken the dash and gauges out to look at them. I'm no mechanic, but this is my only rig And I need this fixed yesterday. I also am having issues with the automatic windows. For a rebuilt rig, that was Automatic, and now has a 4 Speed Transmission with a 205 transfer case in her. She screams like a raped ape with 3ft Cherry Bombs. Can Someone Help me please?
