i have a lot of rust inbetween the two portions of my trailing arms how can I remove that rust, because they are expanding can they be separated cleaned and then bolted together then welded? or do i need to replace?

Quickest is to just replace them. But if your up to it they can be split apart blasted n painted. Some even weld a plate on the top where they "T" together. But cleaning in between them is almost impossible without splitting them..

I have seen them so badly rusted they had holes rusted through the sides the size of quarters. Forty plus years of salt n grime. Someone actually had a pic of a 67 or 68 truck where the arms give way after loading the truck full of wood.

Both of mine snapped right by the ubolts after getting some wheel hop. Its a big headache to fix them after they break, so I would recommend replacing them if you're worried about them at all! The porterbuilt arms are awesome!

there is no way im spending that kind of money... so i spent several hours sat and sun... i have some pics of what i cut out and my repairs.. this is the worse side... the pass side arm isnt nearly as bad.. but as you can see they had huge holes...just took my time... and practiced my welding lol

well i think I have saved them... but I will not be buying replacements any time soon... they are way out of the budget..
