Quick T5 question

I have found and am going today to pick up a s10 T5 from a guy I know for $75.00, there is no tag on it but it must be a 89-92 because it has the right bolt pattern, 14 splines, and elec. speed sensor.

The question is if I plan on buying aftermarket gauges can I run right from the speed sensor to the speedometer or does it need a stock s10 computer

You won't need the complete S10 computer. If there isn't an aftermarket interface box that works you might need something called a DRAC or VSSB found in many GM trucks.

Most aftermarket gauges are programable to any sender.

Thanks for the info guys. I got the trans home the tag was so rusty that it was totally illegible so I soaked it in naval jelly rust remover (didn't have the good rust bath stuff) I was able to make out 1352-?? 6 with a illuminated magnifying glass. Then I checked 1st it took 4 turns of the input to turn the output once so it must be the 4.03 then I checked the OD it took 12 of 14 splines to turn the output once so the math tells me it the .86 so some detective work on the britisbv8.com ID chart tells me it's from a 1992. I will be running a 1960 235 engine and 3:42 s10 blazer rear with 28" tall tires is anybody else running a similar setup that can tell me what driving characteristics I can expect

That is not the most desireable ratios but should work goog with the 3:42 rear end ratio. First will be a granny gear.
