It's most likely an HO72 or could possibly be an HO52. We'd need to see the front side to tell for sure.
They are good stout rear ends but brake parts can put you in the poorhouse if you can even find them. A lot of guys are converting them to disc brakes to get away from the hard to find part issue. Posted via Mobile Device |

Agree with Texas Firefighter..............1 tons should have the HO72 and 3/4 should be the HO52 if it is a Eaton.
Been told that the disk brake brackets from a 14 bolt ff will work. Also that the entire backing plate and all the brake hardware will convert from the 14 bolt ff. I priced the entire rear brake system for mine, hardware and all for less than $100 which I didnt think was to bad.

That's true. You can mount complete 14-bolt brakes to the Corporate HO52/72s

Re: need help to id this rearend out of a c30
My HO52 was recently rebuilt and there was no problem getting brake parts. I probably should have upgraded to disc brakes though....

HO52 and HO72 center sections are interchangeable. The difference is the heavier HO72 uses a stop bolt to brace the pinion under extreme load.
The best resource on these old rear ends is Pirate 4x4. Those guys are crazy for them. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: need help to id this rearend out of a c30
What we need to see are the outer ends. The difference between a 52 and a 72 is in the backing plates-out. Even some HO52s have the stop bolt. A C/30 Stepside or single rear cab & chassis would have a rear axle like this,if it is an HO72,which looks just like an HO52. If this is the original axle it's an HO72.
